From September 30 to October 21, 2025, Professor Lee Jae-seung, Director of the Jean Monnet EU Centre of Excellence at Korea University, conducted an extensive field trip across Poland, Latvia, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The visit aimed to participate in Riga Conference 2025 and to advance research and policy dialogue on Korea–EU and Korea–NATO cooperation in the post–Ukraine war security environment. In Poland, the professor delivered a seminar at PISM and engaged with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leading research institutes to discuss Korea’s evolving European policy and defense cooperation. Field research in Gdansk further contributed to on-site analysis of Baltic Sea security dynamics. In Latvia, the professor participated in the Riga Conference, held strategic dialogues with Latvian counterparts, and met with former President Egils Levits to exchange views on democratic resilience and Indo-Pacific–Europe security linkages. In Belgium, high-level policy discussions were conducted in Brussels with EU and NATO officials, including talks on advancing a Korea–EU Framework Agreement 2.0 and strengthening Korea’s role in NATO’s IP4 cooperation. The Netherlands visit focused on EU integration history, norm-based diplomacy, and international legal institutions through site visits and expert consultations. Throughout the trip, the professor actively expanded academic and policy networks while collecting materials for future publications and strategic reports. The visit concluded with discussions on strengthening EU cooperation and enhancing collaboration between the Korea University EU Centre and the European host institutions.
